EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization (or EMDR as in is commonly referred to) is a method for treating unprocessed memories and trauma. It is based on the premise that bilateral stimulation of the brain aids in processing experiences and grows new neural path ways. Bilateral stimulation was originally accomplished by having the eye follow fingers or some object back and forth. There are now other methods of achieving bilateral stimulation such as the use of tapping, music, and light.
Why is this good news for you? The good news is that as we reprocess information we stimulate not only changes in our brain but we are also changing. Processing information using bilateral stimulation will process information that had not been fully processed. The symptoms associated with those unprocessed memories often dissapitates once the unresolved material is finally processed.
